OVERCOMING OBSTACLES

  • For Barr Construction
  • - Kirkintilloch Care Facility

Barr Construction have built a new care facility for the Kirkintilloch Area.

In the specification the upper two floors were laid in Gyvlon anhydrite screed. This product, like every other screed, has particular characteristics, i.e. it drys from the bottom up and is affected by water - and due to the fast-track nature of modern construction, the upper floors were still wet!

Up to the beginning of 2009, no major manufacturer had been able to supply and warrant a Damp Proof Membrane System, to be applied on top of an anhydrite screed to permit floor coverings to be installed.

Harndec were able , with the assistance of one of the major manufacturers, to be one of the first projects to provide a DPM system over an anhydrite screed.
