HMP ADDIEWELL

Scotland’s newest prison was opened in December 2008 and with two housing blocks, a central education building and an entry building, it has the capacity to cater for over 700 male inmates.

It has been constructed as a ‘learning’ prison, with a view to not only address the prisoners’ offending behaviour, but also to reduce the likeliness of re-offending and work towards successful rehabilitation.

The buildings modern and compact design, incorporating a number of innovative aspects, reflects HMP Addiewells’s new forward thinking approach to prison services in Scotland.

Harndec installed 24,000m2 of flooring materials including rubber, carpet tiles and non-slip vinyl, on the project, and we can now add this ‘new age’ facility to our history of successful installations within the Prison sector.
